Exhausting Fatigue

fatigue washes over me
as the waves rush on by
the sand leaves me jaded
all I can do is ask why

the sunlight exhausts me
I’ve become tuckered out
I creep beneath the sand castles
still vulnerable, no doubt

My eyelids are drooping
too tired to sleep
too tired to blink
too tired to weep

I try effortlessly to make friends
we betray each other again
I’m tired of women
I’m tired of men

I’m tired of being tired
I’m tired of trying to understand
I’m tired of thinking
that things will go as planned

why can’t I have faith
why can’t I get a sign
why don’t I just pass out
maybe I will try some wine

a coma is too scary
unconscious is too black
subconscious is drowned in thoughts
dreams make me wish not to come back

my head may go out of commission
it must rest, it will freeze
its been working tirelessly
vacation it must seize

My eyelids are drooping
too tired to sleep
too tired to blink
too tired to weep
