A fledgling
being thrown
from home

time to move on
time to let go
need to feel free
need to leave slow

standing on the edge
wishing to remain
simultaneously dreaming
to let go they will refrain

not sure how
only know what you see
you try to do like the others
to sail not fall from the tree

battles within
should I stay or should I go
love to stay put
but then impossible to grow

told it’s alright
I won’t get hurt
I must fly on
but too scared

time passes by
I look down
I can’t do it
I will drown

then from behind
out of love it came
the push to grow up
no more the same

tumbling down
terrified I lifted my wings
using them awkwardly
waiting for skill experience brings

no choice but to fly up
close to death
I soared to the unknown
and held my breath
